What is the shelf life of my fragrance?
Officially 36 months, but as long as you’d like it to! One of the wonders of perfume is that its composition - oil in pure alcohol - means it is already preserved. You might find that if you place it in strong sunlight, high temperatures or humidity, the colour can change slightly, but this is natural and won’t affect the way your scent smells.
I can’t smell my perfume anymore, is it still working?
Yes! Others will be able to smell it, but you might find yourself spritzing on a little more, or having a top up later in the day. Our olfactory sense has evolved from our hunter-gatherer days, to help us get used to smells so that they don’t annoy us anymore. That’s why a room that smells strongly of something bad, becomes less offensive the more time we spend in it. We don’t notice it after a while, but a person walking in for the first time will be hit with it just like we were. The design fault in all this is that of course, there are some smells we’d love to be able to smell the same way we smelt them the first time. Switch Catch Me If I Fall with another scent from time to time to refresh your olfactory senses, or just re-apply.
What’s the best way to apply Catch Me If I Fall?
- Moisturise your skin first – fragrance lasts longer on skin that isn’t dry.
- Apply to your pulse points, these can be found where your blood runs closest to the surface, so aim for the inside of your wrists, the inner crease of your elbows, behind your knees, your neck. Your skin is warmer here and your perfume will be strongest with your body’s own heat, projecting it outwards.
- You only need one spritz - Catch Me If I Fall Eau de Parfum is designed to be long lasting, you don’t want to overpower everyone and everything, and using less the first time you apply means you can save your fragrance for a top up later in the day.
- Fight the urge to rub your wrists together as this action only crushes the top notes, shortening that wonderful first aroma. Be patient, and let it dry naturally if you can.
- Your fragrance is designed to last all day, but by all means top up later if you feel the need.
What type of ingredients are used? Natural? Synthetic? And where are they from?
We source our materials in as sustainable a manner as possible, using a combination of natural and synthetic ingredients, sourced from one of the most ethical perfume houses in the world, knowing that they pride themselves on fragrance safety and sustainability.
Our fragrance is inspired by Myanmar, but none of our ingredients come from there, due to the current lack of stability, a situation we hope will improve in time. Our cardamom comes from Guatemala, our bergamot from Italy, our sandalwood from Australia. Our cedarwood is upcycled from shavings, a by-product from those used in the lumber industry so that no trees are felled purely for the essential oil.
We are 100% vegan and will never test on animals. We are paraben and phthalate free, and adhere to the latest safety and environmental regulations of the International Fragrance Research Association (IFRA) .
Here is the full listing: Alcohol Denat, Parfum (Fragrance), Citral, Limonene, Linalool, Hydroxycitronellal, Farnesol, Geraniol.
How sustainable is your packaging?
We are doing our best as a new small company to be as sustainable as possible. Our paper and cardboard is made by BlakeMade, whose materials are FSC certified and sourced either in the UK, or Europe. Our lids are made by Shellworks, and although they look like plastic, they’re actually made from microbes, which means they are biodegradable in a home compost environment and entirely free from plastic. Our glass is sourced in Europe and is recyclable, over time we will be moving to a fully refillable service.
How are you supporting people in Myanmar?
We currently work with three charities focused on providing medical aid, dermatology services for those suffering from skin diseases, and further education. We don’t produce anything in Myanmar at the moment, but in time we hope to work with key crafts organisations to collaborate on special projects.
